Yesterday I had the privilege of being one of two speakers on a panel to discuss Social Media. In typical social networking fashion, I was invited to speak at this meeting through a Direct Message on Twitter.

Joe Hafner, with Ocho! Consulting, is a local Social Media coach, mentor, and consultant who works with small business owners and real estate industry professionals. I first met Joe when he was a real estate agent at my John L. Scott Kent North office, and when he asked me to speak to a small group about Social Media, I was intrigued. Joe is currently working with a title & escrow company based in Bellevue.
The professionals in this office and their branches have just started a group blog and Joe brought Certified Mortgage Planner Chik Quintans (a regular blogger, frequent tweeter on Twitter & avid Facebook user) and me in to field questions and talk about LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and our blogs. It was fun sharing stories with the warm, welcoming group over a boxed lunch, and it was pretty cool being asked to participate. I don’t think of myself as a social media expert by any means - I just do what I do, and I enjoy talking about social networking or teaching others about it, if they’re interested.
