According to the April 2009 data provided by Realty Trac, a national foreclosure trend reporting company, there are 3,349 properties in foreclosure in Washington State, which is down 877 from March 2009.  This translates to 1 out of every 816 housing units is in foreclosure.

  • King County has 772 properties in foreclosure, which means 1 out of every 1,057 housing units is in foreclosure.

  • Snohomish County has 400 properties in foreclosure, which means 1 out of every 689 housing units is in foreclosure.

Once again, let's compare this data with neighbors to the south: Oregon.  According to Realty Trac, the state has 3,837 homes in foreclosure which translates to 1 out of every 419 housing units is on foreclosure whereas 1 out of every 816 housing units are in foreclosure in our state.

Here are the top five states with properties in foreclosure, according to the data published by Realty Trac.

  1. California still has the most number of properties in foreclosure in the nation: 96,560, which means 1 out of every 137 housing units is in foreclosure.
