I’ll have to post more about this later, but I have returned from my trip to Virginia. Last week I flew out to help a good friend and past client move from Virginia to Washington State. She and her husband have a beautiful 9 month old baby girl that has been in Children’s Hospital since she was born. This happy baby was born with some serious medical issues and requires special care and attention. It was my job to help my friend by taking turns driving, sitting in back with the baby and keeping her happy and entertained, helping my friend pack up the house, help her remember to do things, and and acting as her personal assistant for whatever she needed.
This baby is the reason I have gotten so involved in helping at the Seattle Ronald McDonald House. My colleagues and I have made dinner for the families at RMDH; I have an on-going toiletries drive (shampoos, conditioners, soap, toothpaste, etc.) for RMDH; and I participate in donating to the John L. Scott Foundation which supports Children’s Hospital. This trip out to Virginia was my first time actually meeting the baby, so it was a treat and an honor for me to have the opportunity to fly out to meet her and help her family.
We planned to drive across the country over 6 days but my friend’s daughter ended up in the hospital with an infection, so we were delayed 4 days. After much urging from my church family, we decided to change our plans and my friend, her baby and I flew home Wednesday the 2nd while her husband and their pets drove across the country Tuesday through Thursday night. This is a very long story made short, but I need to catch up on work so I plan to expand on this more, later.
Thank you, to those of you that showed such concern for someone you didn’t know! I received many emails of support from my friends and church family during my trip. It means so much to me to see so many people that care. I am pleased to report that my friend, her husband, baby and pets are all in their new home in the Seattle area and that the baby is doing okay.
